Enterprise Network Setup and Migration
SouthEast Lancaster Health Services (SELHS)
SELHS is a non-profit healthcare provider with five locations and 200 users on their network. They were using a 100% outsourced/remote/cloud-based IT solution, but the costs were high and they were no longer satisfied with the performance or support they received. SELHS wanted to bring their IT back “in-house”, but they weren’t sure where to start. After all, they didn’t own any IT hardware, software, or infrastructure. It was all supplied by the cloud IT vendor. To further complicate things, their existing contract was up in 3 months and they wanted the cut-over to be seamless to their end-users.
MicroXpress started by creating a side-by-side network with managed switches and wireless access points. The new network was then connected to the old network and secured using managed firewalls. A SAN solution was setup on the new network using Microsoft Cluster Services for failover and redundancy. Virtual Windows Hyper-V servers were created on the SAN. Active Directory was duplicated from the old network, and the MicroXpress team deployed all critical PC’s over a long weekend. Applications were migrated from the old network, Email was imported to Office365 using Azure Sync to replicate all mailboxes, user accounts, and passwords to the cloud. File Shares, printing and permissions were brought back in-house using sync tools, and their hosted SharePoint site was cleaned-up and moved to the Office365 cloud.
Jennifer Black – Chief Operating Officer
“Immediately upon signing the contract, they went to work on our large network migration with a nearly impossible deadline. MicroXpress jumped right in as part of the team and went above and beyond to help us meet our project timeline. As a result of their expertise and commitment, they completed our network migration seamlessly. The most impressive feedback I received was from staff who went out of their way to tell me stories about how pleasant and helpful the MicroXpress team was to work with through the transition.”
Hosted Exchange Migration – 300 Users
Wagman Companies
Wagman Companies, a York based construction company with 200 users, was using Microsoft Exchange Server and a Barracuda Message Archiver for the on-site email solution. Over the years, the volume of email and size of their mailboxes had grown out of control. It was consuming massive amounts of IT resources and they barely had time to complete the backups overnight. Wagman Companies wanted to relieve their IT department from the burden and overhead of email, but they didn’t want to lost any of the performance or functionality that they were accustomed to.
They decided to move their email to the Microsoft Office365 Cloud solution and contracted MicroXpress to help with the migration. The first steps were to setup user’s mailboxes in the cloud and implement Azure Active Directory Sync to allow for shared passwords. This allowed their 300 mailboxes to be slowly migrated over a two-week period. Once complete, the cutover was scheduled over a long weekend. All users were setup with new email profiles, and all email relays were setup for internal applications such as VOIP voicemail emails, copier emails and internal software notifications. The existing Barracuda Message Archiver was reconfigured to archive email coming from Office365.
Mike Hartman – Technology Manager
“Brian and Justin, having prior Office365 product experience, provided the thorough project management needed for a smooth transition with detailed planning, on-time execution, and virtually no downtime on our “cut-over” weekend. We expected some migration challenges and issues, but we were extremely pleased with MicroXpress’ expertise and diligence in a very successful migration.”
Campus-Wide Wireless Network
Cornwall Manor
Cornwall Manor, a continuing care retirement community in Central PA, had plans to construct a new Health Center building on their campus. They wanted a centrally managed wireless network solution that would both cover their new building and allow them to expand to other areas on the campus. MicroXpress recommended a managed wireless solution from XyZel that provided secure authentication and guest access.
MicroXpress started the project by physically mounting (43) Wireless Access Points (WAPs) throughout the new Health Center building while it was under construction. Once complete, the WAPs were configured using the centrally located Wireless LAN Controller. MicroXpress then physically mounted another (20) WAPs at various places across the campus and configured them using the Wireless LAN Controller.
The project was completed successfully and Cornwall Manor now has all (63) WAPs centrally managed by one controller.
Cindy Hower – Information Management Coordinator
“We were very pleased with MicroXpress’ recommendation and how the whole project came together. We are planning to add more wireless devices in the near future.”
